Jozef may have worked a farm in Germany for a time when the Germans occupied his homeland during WW2. Before and after that he worked on the family estate in Spie, Poland. From old photos and family reminiscences, says granddaughter Stella Lasica Karniej, “He had a mustache and still had all of his dark hair late in life. He loved to smoke a pipe, and loved horses. He was a very slim man, like my dad, and similar in looks. He was a gentle, quiet man, and passed away when I was about 11.” Stella Lasica Karniej says her grandfather bore a strong resemblance to his brother Wojciech/George (Joseph Lasica’s grandfather), based on George’s citizenship photo. Joseph was Joseph Lasica‘s great uncle and he visited Jozef’s grave and the former Jozef Lasica homestead in Spie in 2013; Adam Lasica and Mary Lasica Turalinski did so in earlier years.
