Short bioMatilda’s niece, Florence Bielen Reid, recalls: “In her childhood, Matilda was called Tillie. As she grew older, we called her Mattie.” She and Lillian Sporn Lasica both said Matilda contracted multiple sclerosis in her 30s and lived to be 77. She had no children.
